A High School in Massachusetts has put students in charge of their help desk that is overseeing a rollout of iPads to all of their students.
There are two great things about this:
- Each kid gets an iPad.
- Kids will get some real life experience in IT Service Management.
While it doesn't seem they will be dipping into hardcore ITIL change management and CMDB, they will have the opportunity to learn to troubleshoot and become more technology savvy. Many high school kids go on to help desk jobs in college and beyond, and I am glad to see the opportunity for these kids to hone their skills before dedicating their college career to IT Service Management.
Side Note: After a little research it seems that this school will be moving to BYOD in a few years, which will make the help desk much more fun.
